Today we wake to the news that yet another titan of the big screen has passed away leaving a legacy of amazing and incredible movies for us to enjoy. It was reported that the beautiful Lauren Bacall died of a massive stroke at the age of 89.
Lauren was known for many roles such as the 1940’s classics Key Largo, Dark Passage, The Big Sleep and To Have and Have Not. It was the last of those films in which she made her début alongside legend Humphrey Bogart and one of the most famous lines from a movie in the 40’s was made,
‘You know how to whistle, don’t you Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.’
Throughout the years that followed Lauren starred in TV shows such as The Rockford Files with James Garner, Chicago Hope and even Family Guy! She was also in a number of movies like Misery, How To Marry A Millionaire and many, many more.
In 1945, after starring alongside Humphrey Bogart, the pair married and one of Hollywood’s most treasured love stories continued to flourish right up until the death of Humphrey in 1957 from throat cancer. It was a tragic loss and one felt most deeply by Lauren who was devastated at losing the love of her life and their two children.
During her career she not only starred with some of Hollywood’s most elite from John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Gary Cooper, Betty Grable and Tony Curtis, but she became one of Tinsel Towns most beloved sweethearts.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Lauren, may she rest in peace.
