Like an Artist with a laid back Jack Johnson like feel with a harder edge? Read on…
Butch Walker is an American recording artist, songwriter, and record producer. He has been in two bands and has established a good career as a record producer to help out other mainstream artists. This been his 7th studio album release – tries to delve into the depths of his life.
Courtnesy of Lojinx and Dangerbird, the album has been released this week. It hits an nerve to the soul with him using everything in his resume. His resume includes “guitar god”, being a Grammy and CMA nominated producer and this new LP shows both skill and tenderness.
Highlight tracks include – “Chrissie Hynde”, which recounts the legendary Pretenders front-woman’s voice coming through the speakers and it adds Walker’s effortlessly unique vocals.
“Bed on Fire” – takes things on the album up a notch. This is done via “haunting strings” and electric guitar that builds to reach a “chill-inducing distorted crescendo”.
“21+” builds from an acoustic guitar rhythm to gentle “ooh’s” to a guitar solo from actor Johnny Depp.
Afraid of Ghosts Album – Our Thoughts
We were thinking this was similar to a Jack Johnson style because of the simplistic of how the tracks are built up to establish the levels. It does hit an harder edge due to his vocals and the choice of instruments on some of the tracks but it works well.
It works incredibly well as background music to write to, or to just relax to. It has a relaxing tones that just make it great to end your day to.
