Amy Lawton has released the video for her debut single ‘Undone’, which premiered with 1883 Magazine who said, “The new song showcases Amy’s incredible talent and declares that she has a promising future.”
We thought it was a good song – enough to present the press release given to us. Short thoughts at the bottom of it.
The video captures the 20-year-old singer/songwriter performing her single while journeying through London’s east end. ‘Undone’ is a gorgeous, upbeat slice of country pop and an impressive introduction to one of the brightest new talents to emerge this year.
Regarding the single Amy says, “The song is a kind of wild confession of someone’s real motives in a relationship, which I was inspired to write after talking to an ex-boyfriend after he showed up at one of my gigs.”
About the video she continues, “I enjoyed making a video which seemed as carefree as the song’s lyrics and reflected its upbeat nature. I was inspired by locations in East London, which I go to a lot. Regent’s Canal is my walk to the studio and Apples and Pears Bar is a place I’ve played live in a few times. Shooting the video in the daytime on busy streets was fun, sometimes it was difficult to shoot with a lot of cars and people but I like what that added to the video.”
The single has received particularly strong support from Deezer who have featured her single in a number of high profile playlists including ‘Brand New UK’, ‘Radar Weekly’ and ‘New Music Mixtape’.
Amy Lawton channels the likes of Suzanne Vega, Alanis Morrisette and early Taylor Swift. Multi-platinum selling hit songwriter Matty Benbrook (Paolo Nutini, Jack Savoretti, Dido) discovered the fresh-faced singer and together they created ‘Undone’ alongside Pete Maher (U2, Lana Del Rey, Jack White) who mastered the track.
Amy first honed her craft on the London live scene, performing at many famous venues in the city such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Troubadour, The Bedford and The Social among others.
Her biggest show came as support to Jack Savoretti last year at London’s Cadogan Hall. More recently, she held a six-week residency at the West End nightspot Mahiki in early 2017.
Amy has just been announced for her latest live show in the capital, where she will play The Victoria, Dalston on October 9th in support of Jesse Terry. Tickets are available now through We Got Tickets.
Ever since childhood Amy has been creating rhymes, poems and short stories. For the past six years she has been crafting these ideas into song, writing with the likes of Dee Adam (Diana Vickers, Newton Faulkner), Jess Sherman (Ward Thomas), Pam Sheyne (Christina Aguilera, Corinne Bailey Rae) and Paul Herman (Dido).
Armed with experience sharpened well beyond her years, ‘Undone’ is a truly exciting first taste of what’s to come from Amy Lawton.
Our Thoughts – Too catchy not to give you the information on this artist. Great song.
