If you can believe it, it is the 125th Anniversary for the incredible Agatha Christie this year and to celebrate this milestone, the BBC have recreated one of her most acclaimed and successful murder mysteries in to a sensational three part TV series.
From today, courtesy of RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn Label, And Then There Were None comes to DVD with a stunning star studded cast, that was first aired over the Christmas holidays on the BBC, now yours to take home and enjoy at your own leisure.
In 1939 a group of ten strangers receive invitations to be guests on a small, remote island off of the coast of Devon. As with any good thriller the weather turns and leaves this band of unusual visitors stranded on the island and at the mercy of their elusive hosts. Of course all seems well, a little odd, but non-the-less well, until the first dinner of the captives stay, where the nefarious intentions of the person or persons who had gathered them there, becomes apparent.
Each of them are charged with a serious and horrific crime, then slowly, as if it was fated, the guests begin to fall one by one themselves, succumbing to the mercy of one among them, one whose intentions are anything but genial. Is one of them really a murderer? Who could do such a thing? And what game are they playing?
The master of mystery, Agatha Christie, is well honoured by a cast that not only superbly recreates one of her most famous novels, but provides the viewer with a tantalizing three hours of indulgent mystery, one that will have you questioning the motives of every character! Including Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, The Imitation Game), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders, Tudors), Miranda Richardson (Parade’s End), Douglas Booth (The Riot Club, Great Expectations), Maeve Dermody (Beautiful Kate), Burn Gorman (The Dark Knight Rises), Toby Stephens (Black Sails, Jane Eyre), Anna Maxwell Martin (The Bletchley Circle), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones), Aidan Turner (The Hobbit Trilogy), Sarah Phelps (The Casual Vacancy, Great Expectations) and Craig Viveiros (Ghosted).
Will anyone survive the macabre festivities on this all but deserted island?
