Moving from a small town in Ireland to the United States of America, young Eilis (Saoirse Ronan – Hannah, Atonement) is making a journey that she hope will change her life for the better.  The decisions and difficult choices that she will have to make, will etch out the path of her life will take.  Her life is good, she has work and even fallen in love with Tony, (Emory Cohen – The Gambler, The Place Beyond The Pines).

Brooklyn-bookBrooklyn is a film based on Colm Tôibín’s novel, now transformed into a BAFTA and Academy Award nominated screenplay by Nick Hornby, courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  Eilis is forced to return to Ireland after a family tragedy, she finds it hard to not fall back into place with the life she previously lived.  When a secret threatens to make itself know, Eilis is face with the heartbreaking choice between two loves, two men, two countries.  

A standout cast makes this for an incredible film to watch, authentic and wonderfully played, including Julie Walters (Mamma Mia, Harry Potter), Jim Broadbent (The Lady In The Van, Iris) and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars : The Force Awakens).  All together they create a film that is not just moving, but littered with comedy.  It takes a look at the affairs of the heart and just how complicated they can be, as well as our attachment to home and how it is such a big part of our lives.  

Brooklyn is now available for you to buy on Blu-Ray and DVD, it includes special features such as deleted scenes, interviews and a featurette about the movie.  It is the perfect film to pick up and watch with your loved one, or indeed by yourself.  A lazy Sunday that calls for a duvet will be improved by watching this heartwarming and genuine movie.
