Part five of our gift suggestions for 2016 is crammed with fun and exciting items to wrap up for those you care about this year…

Shuffle Games

SG Game of LifeChristmas is notorious for a board game or two, there is something about the day itself that lends itself to kicking back and trying to annihilate your family and friends in a good old fashioned competitive game.  It can be exhausting though and towards the end of the day, after the dinner has been devoured and presents thoroughly explored, sometimes you just don’t have the energy to get out and set up a complicated board game.

This is where Cartmundi Shuffle come in.

The Shuffle games have been designed around the well known board game versions, they are just fast paced card games now and you lose none of the fun.  There is even an app that you can download to increase the fun and make the game more interesting.

There are a whole range of these games with titles including The Game of Life, Twister, Cluedo, Frozen, Disney Monopoly, Pictureka, Trivial Pursuit and many more.  There is a game to suit everybody and fun for all the family, a perfect sticking filler for the kids this year!

Available at Amazon from £5.69

Illumi-mates

50597 High Heel Light PKG Img3We love just how fun our next pick is for the kids this Christmas and hope that you will too.  Illumi-mates are funky night lights in a range of designs that will have the kids crying out to go to bed, just so that they can use their new night lights!

In a wide array of different characters and objects, the Illumi-mates will come in at least one design to please who you are buying for this Christmas.  Whether they are a completely bonkers Star Wars fan, can’t stop sending emojis in text messages or love their shoes., Illumi-mates have it covered.  They even have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Minions, Plant Pots, Shopkins and Paw Patrol on standby waiting to make your kids day.

The lights are battery operated and will not get hot, so you can be rest assured the little ones wont burn their fingers.  Each of the lights automatically cycle through a range of colours too, increasing the fun factor tremendously, we can just imagine the nippers sat there waiting for the next colour to appear!

Available from all good retailers, the Illumi-mates are great fun and a wonderful stocking filler for 2016!

Polaroid VR Headset

polaroidIf you are really looking for a present that is out of this world then a virtual reality headset could be just the ticket this Christmas.  We adore this one made by Polaroid that is available from Joy The Store, not only does it look incredibly retro, but when you actually start using it, the Polaroid VR Headset will surprise you with just how much fun it is.

Using the VR Headset from Polaroid is simple, you need a Smartphone, one of the many free or paid for apps in your app store (Android or Apple) and the device itself.  Simply open up the app of your choice, we particularly loved trying out VR Theme Park and VR Aquarium, both of which were free to use.  Once you have the app loaded, you place it into the front compartment of the headset and close.

From that point on you control the app with your movements, by looking at the menu which will be located somewhere in the 360º virtual world that now surrounds you.  You are immediately immersed in a 3D world of wonder, you could be walking on the moon, swimming in the deepest oceans or riding a fairground attraction, even walking through a Jurassic park!

You may need to jiggle with the focus and positioning of the lenses, this can be a little tricky as the focus is controlled by twisting the lenses and of course you are wearing the headset whilst trying to do that.  Besides that, the Polaroid VR Headset is an absolute joy to use, you can do more than experience the virtual worlds as there are also games available for you to play too!

Available from Joy The Store for £20

Badger Ales

Ales are an acquired taste but loved by so many and when you get a range that covers so many different flavours, you are certain to come across one or two that will tickle the taste buds of the ale lover in your life.

We came across Badger Ales and were immediately taken with the names of their brews.  Yes, the names alone without trying a drop, but then we did try them and were blown away.

There are a total of 11 different ales and beers in the range available in most major supermarkets.  From Tanglefoot which is a perfect pairing with steak and pies, it has a crisp flavour with hints of melon, to Fursty Ferret which is hoppy and made with Seville oranges to compliment some tasty cheese, there are so many to chose from and one for every occasion.

The range includes the two above as well as Blandford Flyer, Poachers Choice, Golden Champion, First Call, Golden Glory, Leaping Legend, Firkin Fox, Daring Diver and Wild Wader.  There is is even an ale that will go wonderfully with Christmas dinner, Hoppng Hare.

Available from all major supermarkets for £1.99 per bottle
