Japanese Sea Vegetable Salad a great alternative to try, containing wild harvested red, green and white sea vegetables. A simple salad to prepare, tasty and nutritious, it combines different sea vegetables with varied colours, textiles and flavours. Wash, then soak in lukewarm water for 10 minutes. Drain well and then use your favourite seasoning.
Japanese Wakame Dried Sea Vegetables are dark green fronds with a mild flavour and a soft tender texture. These can be added to miso soup, salads or stir fries. Again easy to prepare, wash, then soak in lukewarm water for 10 – 15 minutes. To make sure you retain full flavor and appearance only simmer for 1 – 2 minutes if cooking. High in Calcium, Magnesium and Iodine.
Japanese Arame Dried Sea Vegetables are sweet tasting with a delicate flavour which would make this a good option when introducing sea vegetables to your daily diet. You could Sautee with onions, carrots and tofu or just boil if adding to a salad. Wash and soak in cool water for 10 – 15 minutes, drain and rinse. High in Calcium, Magnesium, Iron and Iodine.

Rice Trio Sweet & Sour Wakame Salad
Wakame is mild tasting so the strongly flavoured dressing will stand out. Studies show that wakame aids in preventing heart disease, preserving bone density, and lowering triglycerides. Wakame consumption has also been found http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19713172 to lower blood pressure in hypertensive (people with high blood pressure). Just two teaspoons of seaweed salad a day for a month dropped people’s blood pressure by 14 points, and two months of wakame was associated with up to a two inch skinnier waistline.
1 cup Clearspring Quick Cook Organic Rice Trio
¼ cup loosely packed Clearspring wakame flakes
1 tbsp. Clearspring brown rice vinegar
3 tsps. Clearspring rice malt syrup
2 tsps. Clearspring shoyu soya sauce
1 tsp. finely grated ginger juice squeezed
1 tbsp. Clearspring light sesame oil
2 tbsps. Toasted sesame seeds
2 cups rocket or arugula
Cook the rice according to the packet instructions and set aside. Place the wakame in a small bowl and soak in warm water for 15 minutes to reconstitute and soften. Remove from the bowl and squeeze out any remaining liquid. Whisk together vinegar, rice syrup, shoyu, ginger juice, and sesame oil. Adjust seasonings to your taste. Toss wakame with dressing and allow to marinate for 30 minutes.
Toss marinated wakame with the salad greens and cooked rice. Top with the toasted sesame seeds. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
