This is a nice little puzzle game from Dream holdings, TAKAGISM Inc. You play Inspector Jean-Jacques Gordot who finds himself investigating the Crimson Room with a door that won’t open, a flickering light bulb and scattered wine bottles… has he been here before?
This is a tough one to review without giving to much away. The game is set in 1 room on board a ship set for Japan or so it seems although throughout the game play you will come across diary entry’s and letter from the gentlemen who stayed in the room prier to the investigation.
In order to complete your investigation you need to escape the room which is locked. This will require you to search high and low and in out out of the interior room to find objects to complete the puzzle. Sounds simple and really it is once you’ve put your mind to it. Like all puzzle games, they seem so complicated and frustrating until you soon realize the answer is staring straight at you.
Once you have found your barrings, figured out whats what and got so far the room turns which creates a little disorientation and to be honest I quite liked it, kind of added to the atmospheric eeriness of it all. It’s probably best from now that I leave it there and allow you to experience Crimson Room for yourselves. Don’t expect a huge amount of play-ability from this title, start to finish I was done in 45 minutes but it’s a really good 45 minutes, with W,A,S,D & Tab keys and mouse making for a simple control system.
I’ll give you one clue, with the calendar on the floor watch the lightning!
