Do you have a hot brain?

Thousands of people suffer from insomnia and other sleep related disorders.  It can be so frustrating when you are exhausted and the only thing you would like to do is fall asleep, but that is the one thing that is seemingly impossible at times.  There have been many studies and theories about the reasons behind people having difficulty sleeping.

Sleeping is one of the most important parts of life, just as humans need to eat, they need to sleep.  Being sleep deprived can be extremely dangerous, even after just one night of no sleep individuals become cranky and clumsy.  After five nights of not sleeping the brain struggles to make sense of things and even the simplest of tasks are difficult.  Eventually the brain will shut down, unable to make sense of anything.  This is because when we sleep our brain works hard to sort the days events out and store them in our memories.  Sleeping enables problem solving too and our bodies rest and prepare for the day ahead.

Without sleep we can’t function.

Sleep problems can come about for a number of reasons, one of the most common is overheating in bed.  Not just your body but your brain.  Think about it, when you can’t sleep your brain is working overtime and that creates heat, which in turn makes your head warmer.  Recent innovations by Sealy  have lead to a way to help the brain to do it’s work by cooling the head and allowing you to get a better, deeper nights sleep.

image006The Cooltech Gel Pillow has a clever gel layer that is securely positioned in a mesh interliner.  What is so fascinating about this pillow is that the gel layer helps to ‘dissipate heat via thermal conductivity’, this means that the heat is transferred from your head and absorbed by the gel layer contained within the pillow itself.  In turn you are able to fall asleep quicker and for longer, in complete comfort and relaxation.

Admittedly at first it is a very strange sensation to have this constant source of coolness around your head, but it quickly becomes quite normal and a great comfort.  In testing we found that the pillow did enable a better nights sleep and in fact helped with the overall feeling of comfort when in bed.  A big thumbs up from us!
