Well only a few days until I up sticks from the country and arrive at Global Gathering. I am looking forward to what promises to be an epic two days, especially after the success of last year! All this has been made possible by the team Lucozade Energy, who have kindly given us this opportunity.
Global Gathering starts on Friday 25th July and runs until Saturday 26th July 2014. It will be one of the biggest dance events of the year thanks to a fantastic amount of headlining acts which include, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, and the drum and bass legends Chase and Status, not to mention well established acts such as the Prodigy, Tinie Tempah and Pete Tong who is one of the biggest DJ’s in the world! Other acts include, Knife Party, Katy B and Radio 1’s resident DJ Danny Howard to name but a handful of acts.
There are several stages open on each day including the main stage, the brand new Hanger and the Bunker, an underground party not to be missed. This year also sees a return by popular demand of the amazing Lucozade Energy YES Arena. This stage holds 800 party goers and has exclusives such as the Refuel Bar and body zorbing. Amazing opportunities to carry on the fun even when away from the main stage, so a massive shout out goes to Lucozade Energy.
I will be travelling down to Global Gathering on Thursday night so I can arrive nice and early on the Friday Morning, the line up on Friday looks legendary. I am mostly looking forwards on the Friday to seeing the following artists.
On the Main Stage, headline acts and drum and bass heavy weights Chase and Status look set to kick off a fantastic set. The duo Saul and Will, are expected to play classic songs such as Pieces, Hypest Hype and Blind Faith.
Secondly, an exclusive to global gathering, the French mega-star David Guetta takes to the brand new stage ‘The Hanger.’ This super star of house will be showcasing his DJ skills and really getting the crowd pumped up. This is an act not to be missed.
The third pick for Friday are new comers Gorgon City. They will be playing on the BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage. Although they are new to scene, they have already had two massive top ten hits with Ready For Your Love and Here For You. Gorgon City are sure to make massive moves in the charts this year so are well worth seeing.
Saturday sees another action packed day that will leave you ready for the party and ready for more. The main stage is headlined by another massive exclusive to the event, the absolute legends that are The Prodigy. The group began in 1990 and 24 years later they are still making great music and keeping the party going.
On the Radio One Essential Mix Stage you will find DJ Eric Prydz. This man has been making hits since he began and everybody will remember the infamous Call On Me video, he will definitely come prepared to not disappoint.
Lastly on the UKF Live Stage you can get the chance to see Wilkinson after his break out hit ‘Afterglow.’ Set to take centre stage and blow the crowd away with a fantastic drum and bass set, ready to make the ground shake and the crowd jump.
The YES Project is also coming to Global Gathering which sees the return of the YES Stage, as mentioned above it gives fantastic opportunities to enjoy the festival outside of the music. Lucozode Energy run the YES Project, giving people all over the country the opportunity to win amazing prizes such as GoPro cameras, hoodies, T-shirts and holdalls. No doubt these give-aways will continue through the festival season.
This is an event not to be missed, so all in all it looks to be a fantastic couple of days and I will write again after the event to let you all know how I have got on, but while I am there keep an eye on our Twitter feed for updates, pictures and all the excitement from the festival!
