Halloween is a great time of year for all ages and Trick or Treating can be a wonderful experience if you live in a community that embraces the tradition. We thought it would be an idea to put together a few ideas for those trick or treaters this year, that are both what you would expect and a few you might not!
Although the usual treats that are handed out during Halloween festivities would be chocolate, Playmobil have some spooktacular alternatives for Trick or Treaters or even Pass the Parcel at a Halloween party
Playmobil Knights features a colour changing ghost complete with jingling keys a creepy candlestick and even a ball and chain. If you pop a battery in this little fellow, he will light up!
They also have a special set out, just in time for Halloween that features a dastardly devil and an amazing angel, who comes complete with a cloud on which to sit!
These are available from from Playmobil’s website!

Halloween is not just about the kids of course, grown ups like some ghoulish fun on All Hallows Eve. Ghost Vodka is not only perfectly named for such an occasion, it has one of the best themed bottles we have seen for a while. The front of the jet black glass bottle is adorned with a fabulously frightening skull!
British made, Ghost Vodka is unusually fruity due to the fact that instead of using potatoes or wheat, the Ghost Vodka team use British Sugar Beet instead! Smooth with hits of spice and notes of leather, caramel, fennel and vanilla, it is an unusual but devilishly delicious offering that will have you coming back for more!
Perfect served on the rocks, neat or even as part of a minimalist cocktail, this vodka can be enjoyed however you would like and the best part? It is distilled in Cambridge at an old salt depot that is reportedly haunted!

If you take Halloween more seriously, then we have found the perfect book for you, The Occult by Colin Wilson.
This is a book that was originally published in 1979, The Occult has been republished by Watkins just two years after the death of the author. The new edition has a foreward by Wilson’s bibliographer Colin Stanley.
The Occult is seen as one of the definitive books on the subject of the history of magic, the supernatural and paranormal. It explores the discoveries made in the 20th Century without dumbing them down, but leaving them completely understandable for any layman who picks up the book.
Wilson looks at everything with reason, a skill little seen by people who investigate the subject, especially back in the 1970s. He takes an comprehensive and objective look at the mystery behind the world of magic, which even today is seen as refreshing and enlightened.
It was an immediate classic when first published and a go to book for anyone who wants to learn more about the subject. Its republication will only strengthen Colin Wilson’s legacy.
Available from Watkins Publishing for £16.99 (Paperback)
