Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow.

Many of us have dreamed of having the beautiful, manicured hair styles of the stars, especially the Hollywood starlets of the early 20th Century, when no matter what they were doing, the actresses, and indeed actors, looked absolutely impeccable.

There is something magical about the early Hollywood stars that captures a kind of magic we seldom see today, there is an air of sophistication, a certain elegance that seems lost in modern times.

These days we find ourselves looking back to days gone for inspiration and it is easy to see why when the images of actresses such as Judy Garland, Gene Tierney and Elizabeth Taylor, look as striking as they do.

Not only did the beautiful women of yesteryear have flawless make up, but their hair was something to be desired. Perfectly styled, framing the face and enhancing everything about the incredible women of the day.  Now, we aren’t naive, they had hair stylists that would prepare their locks for filming and they did a great job.  However, and this is crucial, it doesn’t mean that we, as modern-day ladies and gents, can’t achieve the same fabulous looks.

It might seem like it will be a lot of hard work, we will give you that, but half of the battle is having the right tools, or getting styling products that will help you achieve the desired up do, or lavish design, with much less hassle than you might originally have thought.  It is possible to make your life easier, you just need to know where to look.

We have been in touch with a leading provider of tools for hair styling, Jenclare Brands.  They provide everything from brushes to combs, hair bands to bobby pins, accessories to rollers, plus much, much more, to salons and shops throughout the country.  Many of their brands you will have heard of such as Mila Rose and Hairganics.  We have a browse through their extensive range and picked out our favourite items to help you achieve that glamorous movie star look.

The 1920s Bob

The Bob Styler from StyleEASY is a fabulously nifty little tool that will get you looking like one of the flapper girls in no time at all.

The Ponytail

A firm favourite throughout the years, but a good ponytail needs to be secure and comfortable.  StyleEASY form Jenclare have a range of hair bands for all occasions, including Wonderbands, which are waterproof and no break bands and, Spiral Bands which keep hair secure, are also waterproof, but wont leave a nasty kink in your hair when you take it down.

The Faithful Bobby Pin

The men joke about them and the women have hundreds but can never find one, the Bobby Pin is one of hair styling’s worst kept secrets and is invaluable.  Mila Rose do sets of 30, in various colours, they are sure to do the trick.  Andrew Barton is a range that also produces Bobby Pins that promise ‘Max Hold.’

The Bun

If you are going for a look more along the lines of Audrey Hepburn, or maybe a 1960s inspired up do, then Andrew Barton’s Next To Natural Bun Donut is just what you need.  It isn’t one that you just plonk on your hair though, it is designed for you to feed your hair through the centre and then pin and tuck, using the Bun Donut as your guide.  Not only will you get a perfect bun for your bonce, but your hair will look thicker.

The 1940s Wavy Look

To get the perfect wave you can use Bouncy Girl Rollers from Mila Rose.  Simply pop your hair in the rollers, leave to ‘set’, then you can pin your hair like the 1940s siren that you are.

Taming Those Locks

Of course all of this is academic f you don’t look after your hair in the first place.  An important part of hair care is brushing and combing.  Andrew Barton’s range of brushes are quite incredible, each brush or comb contains something called Nano Silver Technology, which helps to keep your hair clean and looking fresher for longer as it is an antibacterial agent.  Clever, huh? The full range included our favourites Crowning Glory, Strictly No Knots and Miracle Frizz Tamer.

Make sure to look for the Jenclare brands when you are next out shopping.  Many of the large retailers, such as Asda, stock these amazing products and at affordable prices.
