Host A Strawberry Tea Party To Help Women Facing Breast Cancer

Get together with friends or family to host a Strawberry Tea for Breast Cancer Care from 1 June to 31 August. The funds raised through the Strawberry Tea campaign, which is sponsored by fine bone china teaware specialist Royal Albert, will help support the thousands of women waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day.

A Strawberry Tea party can be as simple or extravagant as you like. Whether you turn your usual mummy’s coffee morning into a Strawberry Tea in your home or your garden, or get the kids involved and get their help with baking and creating – it couldn’t be easier. Just spoil your guests with sweet treats, add some strawberries, keep the tea flowing and ask for a donation in return. Whatever you raise, you can be confident it will help a woman who has been told the devastating news ‘you have breast cancer’.

Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide breast cancer support charity. Its specialist nurses, local services and emotional support network mean whenever a woman needs information, support or just wants to hear a caring voice, they are there to listen and respond.

Mother of two Frances, 48, from Surrey says: “I cannot begin to tell you how I would have managed my devastating breast cancer diagnosis without Breast Cancer Care by my side – to support me and my young family. They were my lifeline. Through hosting a Strawberry Tea party this summer you can help Breast Cancer Care support other women just like me.”

Top tips for hosting a Strawberry Tea!

Georgie Burchell, Strawberry Tea project manager at Breast Cancer Care says:

1. Big or small – your event can make a difference. Just £2 provides a headscarf for a woman who has lost her hair during treatment for breast cancer.

2. Share the load – make sure you get your friends and family to help out too. One in eight women will be diagnosed in their lifetime so the chances are you all know someone who’s faced breast cancer.

3. Make it fun! Why don’t you add some competition to your event by hosting a raffle, a cake decorating contest or a ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ competition?

4. Spread the word – why not Tweet about your event? #StrawberryTea
