It’s sorbtail time in London’s Arch Hotel

pimmsLondon’s coolest new drink has arrived, with Pimms, Gin & Tonic, Vodka & Elderflower and Bloody Mary transformed into Sorbets at Hunter 486 bar in the Arch Hotel, Marble Arch.

This inventive new treat has been created by Head Chef Gary Durrant, who developed a range of Sorbtails (sorbet-cocktails) inspired by classic English summer drinks.

These low calorie treats come in four flavours: Pimms with fresh strawberries and cucumber; Gin & Tonic; Vodka & Elderflower; and a savoury Bloody Mary.

Erisea magazine was invited along to sample the sorbtails and we were impressed with the beautiful presentation of each drink – if you don’t want to drink one in place of a cocktail then you would find one perfect as a light and summery dessert replacement (although there’s a good kick of alcohol in each one!).

The Bloody Mary is perhaps the most unusual sorbtail, as it mixes the sweetness of fresh tomatoes with the savoury hit of horseradish and worcestershire sauce. Chef Gary has kindly shared his recipe with us, so we’ll be featuring it in the magazine soon – keep your eyes peeled!

The Pimms sorbtail was decorated with delicate slices of strawberry and cucumber and sung of summer in a glass.

The G&T was a classic combination, but the additional sweetness from the sorbet made it even more palatable than a standard G&T (if that is possible!).

And vodka and elderflower was refreshing and fruity … and dangerously more-ish.

cocktailTo soak up some of the deliciously fruity alcohol we shared some platters of charcuterie and cheese, as the bar menu offers delicious and reasonably-priced food. Topped off with friendly service and a lovely comfortable area to sit and catch up with friends, the whole evening was a delight.

The sorbtails are available as a sharing flight for £19.50, or on their own priced at £7 each. Find out more by visiting the hotel’s website.
