It is international kissing day and so we thought we would share a few puckering facts with you.

Philematology is the science of kissing.

The orbicularis oris is the muscle that allows the lips to pucker.

A pucker only uses two muscles in the face.

The first mention of a kiss in text is in The Four Vedic Sanskrit texts in 1500 B.C

You can burn 6.4 calories, per minute, with a passionate kiss!

In Africa and Asia, there are some cultures where kissing is not practised.
