To say that the Leeds & Reading Festival is incredibly exciting this year, might just be a bit of an understatement. Held across the Bank Holiday weekend Friday 22nd August to Sunday 24th, it is a three day extravaganza of sound and entertainment. The Main stage is packed full of amazing artists of all genres, giving an eclectic and interesting mix of musical styles.
Hoping to attend the Leeds part of the festival this year it is certainly a thrill to hear that the Friday will play host to head liners and Pop Punk legends Blink 182, famous for songs such as ‘I Miss You’, ‘All The Small Things’ and ‘What’s My Age Again?’. Also heading up the main stage on Friday are the brilliant Macklemore & Ryan Lewis! Expected to play their hits ‘Thrift Shop’, ‘Can’t Hold Us’ and ‘Same Love’, this will be a set not to miss! It is a signal of the high calibre of acts this year at Leeds Festival, to say that bands such as Papa Roach and You Me At Six are support acts and not indeed headlining themselves!
Saturday on the main stage are joint head liners Queens of The Stone Age. The Californian rock band formed in the later 90’s and has gone from success to success, probably best known for ‘Go With The Flow’. Also on Saturday, Paramore, fronted by Hayley Williams, it will be a fantastic opportunity to hear some of their best releases, hopefully including ‘Still Into You’, ‘Misery Business’, ‘Ignorance and ‘Bring By Boring Brick’. Again the supporting acts do not disappoint, especially since Jimmy Eat World feature in the line up.
The third and final day features Arctic Monkeys and Jake Bugg headlining a list of acts that are sure to excite festival goers. Imagine Dragons, Foster The People, The Hives and Pulled Apart By Horses are just a few on the names listed.
A special mention to one of my favourite bands right now, Twin Atlantic. Hailing from Scotland, their new song ‘Heart and Soul’ is addictive to listen too!
On the smaller stages are a plethora of acts including Gerard Way, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Kooks, Klaxons, Annie Mac, Architects, Band of Skulls, I Am Legion and many, many more.
