Marley Spoon

Food lovers are seemingly spoiled for choice these days with the amount of produce from across the world, a plethora of cookbooks and kitchen gadgets.  Some of the time though it can be a bit difficult to get to the store with modern-day working hours, family commitments and wanting a social life, so we plump for the same old dishes that we know, and love, but they are the ones we have eaten for years.  We know where the ingredients are in the supermarket, making our trips easier and we know off by heart how to cook the dish to perfection.
Is there any other way though?  We want to be adventurous, but time, money and other constraints limit us.

What is the answer?

One way to take the strain off of you and make you love being in the kitchen again, not just because of the ease, but because of the variety, is to give Marley Spoon a go.  Marley Spoon is a recipe box subscription service, it is completely flexible, all the ingredients you need are delivered right to your door, all you have to do is follow the recipe and cook!

How does it work?

We gave Marley Spoon try as we thought it only fair to tell you, from experience what the service was like.  This is what we thought and discovered.

All of the recipes are developed by a team of in-house chefs, they are straight forward and will take between just 30 and 40 minutes to cook.

One important thing to note is that all of the ingredients are delivery in the exact quantities that you need for the recipe, reducing waste and making your experience not just easier, but also more efficient.

Marley Spoon are also supporters of the Slow Food movement.  We hadn’t heard of it either, but we soon learned that it is defined by three principles which are all interlaced.

GOOD – full of flavour, great quality and healthy food.

CLEAN – Environmentally friendly food production.

FAIR – those who produce the food are given fair pay and work in fair conditions, which in turn

provides fair, accessible pricing for consumers.

We had the enviable chance to make Baked Tomato Gnocchi with Mozzarella and Asparagus, as well as Levantine Fattoush with Cinnamon Lamb.

Everything was delivered as ordered and we had all the ingredients we needed to recreate these incredible dishes.  The produce was fresh and absolutely delicious, full of flavour.  The recipes were really straightforward and easy to follow, meaning that it was a pleasure to spend the time in the kitchen, there was a huge enjoyment of cooking that came flooding back.

The finished dishes were also delicious and extremely adventurous, food that wouldn’t normally be picked for a weekday meal.  You even get tips on what wine to pair the dish with, how many calories and a help line for if you have any questions, you also get to keep the A4 recipe cards to use again in the future!
