Martin Callingham – Album Review

About the Artist

Martin is best know as the soft and mellow voice of Joyce The Librarian. Martin decided to release a solo album and it takes that same tone and adjusts to his singular style.

We got a chance to review his solo Album “Tonight, we all swim free”.

Album –  Tonight, we all swim free

The Album was recorded at Bristol’s legendary Toybox Studios. It was co-produced by Ali Chant and include extra credits to Gruff Rhys, PJ Harvey and Seasick Steve amongst them all.

Our Thoughts

Good relaxing album with a good undertone to it. Need something to relax the pain away this is a good choice – no harsh tones and a snug voice that could relax people to sleep (in a good way).

Highlight Tracks

Build us a Path – Layered voices on top of a relaxed guitar rhythm. Tuneful and great.

Folding – Very ASMR sounding voice. The vocals taking priority with a good mixture of accompanying instruments.

Knots – The main track of the album. It is easy to hear why. A simple drum rhythm with a catchy chorus. “These Knots – wont hold”.
