Pretty Biscuits All In A Row

Well, okay they aren’t in a row so much as they are in a plate.  Artistic licence?

Today we wanted to have a go at decorating some delicious gluten-free biscuits.  You can find the recipe for the biscuits themselves over on Eclectic Enchantments.  Here is how we got on…

You might have noticed that one of the biscuits has a big flower stuck to it.  The flower is also edible and made from Sugarpaste.  You would usually pop these on cakes, but we thought we’d be different today and put one on our biscuits.  Here is how to make one of your very own…

As mentioned above, when we were decorating we used the OXO Good Grips 4 Piece Bakers Silicone Decorating Bottle Kit, which you can see pictures in the centre below.  The unique design of this kit makes it much easier and more comfortable to use than conventional piping bags, great for people with dexterity problems.

The bottle itself holds 4 oz of icing and once you are done, it flips inside out for easy cleaning.  The tips used for the piping, are all stainless steel, making them more durable and giving a crisper finish than plastic alternatives and you get three nibs included – small round, closed star and open star.

The OXO Good Grips Decorating Bottle is £9.00

We also love a couple of the other new additions to the OXO Good Grips range that make baking a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.

On the left we have the OXO Good Grips Cupcake Corer, this handy tool lets you remove the centre of a cupcake or a muffin so that you can replace it with a yummy filling such as jam or icing.  It has a soft, non slip grip, so using it over and over is not a problem and it comes apart easily for cleaning.  The Cupcake Corer is just £6.00.

Finally we have the OXO Good Grips Baker’s Dusting Wand, something every kitchen needs.  It can be a complete nightmare trying to dust cakes or drinks with icing sugar, cinnamon or cocoa powder, usually the tools at hand are a teaspoon or a sieve.  Neither are ideal, the teaspoon leaves an uneven and clumpy distribution, whilst the sieve is so big that you end up with more on the worktop than your sweet treats.  The Dusting Want eliminates all of those issues and adds a comfortable grip into the mix!  The Baker’s Dusting Wand is £10.00.
