When the nights draw in and our days become shorter, there is nothing better than some lovely comfort food.  We have a couple to share with you that might not be your first thought when it comes to food perfect for the season, but they sure are tasty! 

Ham and walnut Reblochon rolls with apple chutney

Ingredients
  1. Chutney
  2. 2 small apples
  3. 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
  4. 2 tablespoons of honey
  5. 6 cl of cider vinegar
  6. 1 star anise
  7. Pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg
  8. The rolls
  9. 500g Reblochon
  10. 8 slices of cured ham
  11. 40g of walnuts
Instructions
  1. For the chutney
  2. Preparation
  3. Peel and dice the apples
  4. Add the honey and sugar to a saucepan over a low heat and cook until the sugar begins to melt
  5. Add the cider vinegar to deglaze the pan at a high heat.
  6. Boil for one minute and then add the apple, star anise and the spices.
  7. Cook this out for 25 minutes until the fruit become translucent
  8. Transfer to a dish and cool
  9. For the rolls

  11. Place the walnuts on board and crush with a rolling pin
  12. Slice the Reblochon in 2cm pieces and then cut each piece in half
  13. Roll the cheese in the walnuts to coat
  14. Put the cheese mixture onto a slice of ham, roll up and continue until all the ham has been used
  15. Wrap each roll tightly in cling film and pop into the freezer for 7-8 minutes until firm
  16. Cut each roll into 3 pieces
  17. Serve with the chutney and the remaining walnuts.
