Roast Dinner in a Fraction of the Time!

We could all do with a hand from time to time, an extra few minutes can mean the difference between feeling hurried and busy.  this can be especially true when we have a traditional Sunday Dinner with all of the family, there is a lot that goes into making that meal and it takes ages.  We heard about the new must have gadget for the kitchen and couldn’t resist getting one to see just how much time it could save us, we are talking about the halogen oven.  Something that seemed once to live on shopping channels is now climbing the charts for the next big kitchen accessory.

Swan have a brand new Halogen Oven and Air Fryer which claims to make food not only quicker, but healthier and also boasts it will save you money

What is a halogen oven?  Good question, the Swan Halogen Oven and Air Fryer cooks in three different ways, air fryer, infrared and convection.  The air fryer will cook bacon, sausages and toast (as well as almost anything else you can think of) and it cooks in such a way that all of the fat just drips out of the food, leaving healthier, tasty morsels.  The Infrared setting uses heat wave to penetrate the food, it will seal in moisture and flavour, it allows the food to brown and go crisp, without all of the oils and butters used in frying.  Using the convection setting allows hot air to swirl around inside the oven and ensures that food is cooked evenly on all sides.

The halogen oven has 1300w of power, that is around half of the energy needed for traditional ovens, it has the added bonus of not needing to be preheated and cleaning is minimal as you line the bottom of the bowl with foil.

Swan SF31020CN Halogen Oven and Air Fryer

Finished in a beautiful cream that echoes cookware of the past, the Swan 31020CN is compact but has an incredible 15 liter capacity.  The bowl is made with toughened glass and there are a number of accessories that come with it to enable you to get everything you need in the dish – extender rings, tongs, mesh trays and racks.  There is even a 60 minute timer, so you can make sure that your food is cooked to perfection.

An entire meal can be prepared in the oven on different levels and there is no risk of you losing flavour.  You can prepare a wide range of meals up to 40% quicker using no oil!  What makes this kitchen wonder even better is how you clean it.  Simply allow to cool, add some warm water and washing up liquid to the bowl, add the racks and tongs, set the temperature to wash and the timer to 20 minutes and hey presto, all done.  The bowl is dishwasher proof though, if you prefer to clean it that way.
