For the first time the complete series of The Cazalets will be available on DVD from 23rd March 2015 since its on-screen release in 2001.
First aired on the BBC, The Cazalets has a star-studded cast that includes Hugh Bonnevile, famed for his role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in Downton Abbey, alongside Anna Chancellor from Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Game of Thrones own Stannis Baratheon, Stephen Dillane.
Family life during the difficulties of war is the subject of Elizabeth Jane Howard’s best-selling novels on which the series The Cazalets is based. Retreating to their country estate, the three generations of the Cazalet family face World War Two together through births, deaths and marriages. All is not as it seems though, as the lives of this well to do family are like any others and filled with deceit, intrigue and secrets. When living in such close quarters and during such a tumultuous time, these hidden facets of family life will undoubtedly bubble to the surface.
Joined on-screen by Lesley Manville, (Maleficent) and Joanna Page (Gavin and Stacey), the talented cast depict a family rocked by the horrors and ravages of war, against the backdrop of country that was shrouded by the undeniably terrifying World War Two.
This compelling family drama is presented on a two disc DVD set and will be available from 23rd March 2015 courtesy of Second Sight.
