A quick review today with a look at Incredible Aventures of Van Helsing II. A game where it takes off from where you left off in the first – but should you join it now?
“It all seemed so simple: defeat the mad scientist, free the land and ride in the sunset, but sometimes the fall of a villain only opens the way to more sinister foes. So the incredible adventures continue, and Van Helsing returns to save the day again with the help of his charming companion, Lady Katarina. The gothic metropolis of weird science is on the brink of destruction as chaos rules the streets and a new enemy plots revenge. It’s time to enter the dark side of Borgovia and the forbidden wilderness, but beware: you’re not the only one behind a mask.”
The Incredible adventures of Van Helsing II is an action RPG game similar to games like Blizzards ‘Diablo’ series. From the start there seems to be a lot to take in with many customisable options and opportunities to upgrade skills to advance your character. You will start by creating your character from a few classes and styles, after that you will be briefly introduced to the story and then straight in to the action
You will find yourself hacking and slashing through waves of enemies and using magic to defeat them in no time, every now and then you will get some skill points to progress your skill tree and shape the character that you are playing with.
As I am new to this sort of game, I would say it is a bit daunting at first, to see all the options out in front of me and having to decide which things I would like to pick.
You are aided in your quest by a ghostly figure called Katarina who provides hints and helps progress the story.
The games graphics look good for the style of game and the camera seems to do a good job of keeping you focused on the action. With the added sounds and music to help create the moody tone of the game – the narrative it well drawn out. The voice acting adds to it especially.
As mentioned before, newcomers might find the game a bit daunting and repetitive, you also have to put a long time into the game to get something out of it. If the action RPG games are your thing though, I would give The Incredible adventures of Van Helsing II a try.
