Honour and loyalty is paramount in a time where justice and revenge are carried out using the sword. This incredibly intense English language début from Japanese director Kazuaki Kiriya who created Casshern and Goemon has a star-studded cast that includes Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman (Invictus, The Shawshank Redemption) and Academy Award® nominee Clive Owen (Children of Men, Inside Man).
Commander Raiden, played by Clive Owen, is a fallen warrior who takes it upon himself to rise up and take down the corrupt and rather sadistic ruler of the Empire, Geza Mott played by Aksel Hennie (Headhunters and Hercules). Mott beats and arrests Bartok, overseer of a vassal kingdom to the empire. When Bartok refuses to provide adequate payment to this evil leader the beating commences, but Bartok retaliates and is put on trial for treason to the crown. Bartok can not hold his tongue and everything he feels for the unjust ruler and how his leadership has effected the empire, comes tumbling out.
Bartok is sentenced to death and Raiden is ordered to execute his master. His estate is chopped up and handed out to those loyal to the emperor, Bartok’s clan is disbanded and Raiden swears vengeance at any cost.
Clive Owen, Morgan Freeman and Aksel Hennie are joined in this high action tale of vengeance and honour by Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters), Italian Giorgio Caputo (The Hideout) and South Korean star Ahn Sung-Ki (The Tower), to complete a cast that delivers a wonderful performance.
