Tokarev – Film Review

Nicholas Cage is back with a bang with this action packed drama Tokerav, which makes it’s UK Release debut on DVD and Blu-ray courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Film Review

The story revolves around Paul Maguire (Nicholas Cage), he is a reformed criminal who is now a rich businessman who lives a charming suburban life with his wife Vanessa (Rachel Nichols) and his daughter Caitlin (Aubrey Peeples).

The family life takes a turn, when Paul and Vanessa were out a charity function and Caitlin is with friends at home, Caitlin get kidnapped and then later is found dead.  Hell bent on revenge, Paul’s past comes back as he sets out to get those who are responsible.

A happy drive discussing plans of the day – but they go wrong…

The film’s plot of “revenge” now takes place with Paul finding two buddies to mount a response to find out who did it. Action progresses to where they attack Russian Mob key locations and get the Mob boss’s attention.

He confronts key members of the gang and even talks to Caitlin’s friends to see if they can  find the truth for him.

The Violence Begins

The movie’s third act is the Russians finding out the facts and the audience doing so as  well.  One buddy is kidnapped by the Russians and then integrated, the Russians then find out why they are hitting Mob locations.  The Irish Mob Boss gets killed and the pace of the film carries on to build to a dramatic conclusion.

The Conclusion

The first and the final scene of the movie revolve around Paul (Cage) sat on a bed waiting for something to happen. Boy did it!

The plot takes plenty of turns with the concluding scene leaving the audience satisfied with a great action movie plot with a great twist at the end.

A great surprise hit of a movie, currently on both DVD and Blu-Ray at £15.99 and £19.99 respectively.  A good surprise is hard to find these days.
