Fancy a puzzling indie adventure available on PS4 or PC. Read on…..
Toren is the game. It has an interesting story and builds it around the ideas of dreams.
The history of the tower is what is important to the story. The tower was built for its people to be closer to the moon.
The story begins with a girl (the player), she is shown fighting a Dragon at the top of a tower. The girl and the dragon fight over the idea of been closer to the moon. The dragon’s home is the top of the tower.
The fight doesn’t pan out well, as you get knocked to the bottom of the tower, you are then ‘reborn’ and start from a baby. From crawling you have to progress all the way until you grow to a young adult.
As the story progresses you grow older and learn new skills, it’s a nice touch and a natural way to progress.
The story carries on to reach a good conclusion – but we wouldn’t want to surprise you.
The game has a relaxed nature. It revolves around puzzle solving, some puzzles are quite clever. Some even take place in the girls ‘dreams’. These can be a bit trippy but gives a change of scenery to the tower. There is no one ‘holding your hand’ throughout the game which is refreshing in today’s games. The puzzles aren’t so difficult that you will be stuck on them for ages though.
Overall a good game. The team did a good job in the artistic styling and you get the feel of eeriness throughout the game. Only real negatives are that the character movement can be sluggish and the frame rate occasionally drops.
Main point is the game is very enjoyable and you could easily lose yourself in the world it creates.
