E01 – Melon Buffet

Premise

Greg Davies is the “Taskmaster” in a Dave Original. Assisted by Alex Horne, they have set out a devious set of tasks for 5 comedians.

“Expect cheating. Expect arguments. Expect both cheating AND arguments.”

Roisin Conaty, Tim Key, Romesh Ranganathan, Frank Skinner and Josh Widdicombe compete in a series of tricky tasks set by the Taskmaster, Greg Davies, and his assistant, Alex Horne. This week they have to try and paint the best picture of a horse while riding a horse. Also, expect melon-eating, bath-emptying and pop-up tents.

Highlight Tasks

Horse Painting While On A Horse

Taskmaster - Series 1 - Picture Shows: Frank Skinner

Funny and hilarious outcomes occur. If you think comedians can paint you be surprised.  5 different images and 5 different outcomes.

Eating As Much Watermelon in a Minute

Taskmaster - Series 1 - Episode 1 - Picture Shows: Tim Key

Taskmaster – Series 1 – Episode 1 – Picture Shows: Tim Key

How many different ways can you eat a watermelon? Lots of different ways, a couple of stupid decisions by the comedians led to some funny situation.

Emptying A Bath Without Tipping Or Pulling Plug

Taskmaster - Series 1 - Picture Shows: Frank Skinner

Taskmaster – Series 1 – Picture Shows: Frank Skinner

Again, each comedian brought their individual talents to the scenario. It works well and it was funny again to watch.

Overall – You Will See

The Comedians were extremely competitive with their tasks and how well they did.  It was a test of skill, wit and guile. They each at the start of the show put up a “prize” and in later episodes the prizes get weirder and weirder (Prizes go to the winner of the episode).

Alex Horne and Greg Davies’s “banter” is utterly stupid but funny.

“I measured it in rolos”

Greg Davies is great as the Judge/Taskmaster, his word is final and cheating is either allowed or denied depending on the task. The results are sometimes up for debate but the Taskmaster’s word is always final.

The Comedians bring a well balanced range of comedic range, they are:

Roisin Conaty, Tim Key, Romesh Raganathan, Frank Skinner and Josh Widdicombe.

Overall

After watching 3 episodes ourselves with loved it. It offered us a good way to laugh at the end of a busy day. All people involved play their roles well and we be watching all of the episodes as soon as possible.

Expect stupid prizes and stupid fun.
