We Talk to Nina Schofield

0

We have been able to catch up with Nina Schofield, a beautiful singer, songwriter who is about to make a big name for herself.

Please tell our readers a little about yourself.

I’m a singer and songwriter born in Winchester who writes for other artists as well as myself – I love cereal, music, my family and friends!

When did you realise that you wanted to be a performer?

It’s funny I got asked this recently and I can pinpoint it back to a moment on the playground at school when I was about 5 or 6 and I realised (in my infinite maturity!) that being a performer was an actual job for some people – that’s when the penny dropped for me and every ounce of my being said ‘yes! That’s the career for me!’. Little did I know how that would shape my life.

Do you have a favourite artist? If so who and why?

It’s hard to pinpoint one because I soak up inspiration from so many but I’ve always said the reason I have written many of my early songs is because of Coldplay. Their music grabs me in a way I can’t explain and moves me to create something myself. That makes them very special to me.

Tell us about your single please.

It’s called Imaginary Love and its about a sociopath I had the misfortune of crossing paths with – I tell the story in the song and made it into a gritty power pop tune.

What are your hopes for the future?

To be touring more globally and to keep building my career. What I’m most excited about is seeing what songs I write in the future – I wish I had a time machine!

What was the last song that your playlist picked for you.

It was Night’s on Fire by David Nail.  I recently went to America and whilst I was there I listened to the local country radio station every day and became obsessed with several country artists. When I got home I downloaded about 4 country albums and David Nail’s is one of them.

IMG_8140-EditYou are amazingly trendy when it comes to beauty and fashion, what are you most looking forward to with Autumn/Winter colours, make up and outfits?

Thank you! Summer for me is all about being bright and bold. I really like a lot of the prints that are coming in this season and I like the sports/casual wear trend that seems to be an undercurrent. I’m definitely going to be wearing my coral nike’s and matching up my lipstick to reflect that. For me, fashion is about not being afraid of what people think – wear what you feel great in!

Do you have any pets? If so please do tell us all about them, we would love a picture too!

I unfortunately don’t at the moment as my lifestyle doesn’t allow for it – but in the future I’m going to be getting 2 dogs – I already have their breeds picked out (I’m pretty obsessed with dogs and have never owned one before) – a maltipoo and an Italian greyhound, both hypo allergenic and gorgeous which does the job for me!

What is the most incredible thing you have done in your life?

Now there’s a question! Two (non musical) things spring to mind – one is taking a helicopter ride (with a glass floor) over the grand canyon and the other is walking on a glacier in Iceland – the latter was actually terrifying for me so I guess I’ll have to go with the former!!

What is next for you?

Next up is my album release – ‘Shapes’ comes out on July 22nd worldwide which I’m incredibly excited about – it’s the culmination of 2 years work with some incredibly talented individuals and I couldn’t be more happy to share these songs with everyone! And beyond that: more touring, more writing, and some exciting projects abroad next year!

Nina Imaginary Love DigitalThe new single ‘Imaginary Love’ is released on July 22 with her official debut album, ‘Shapes’ available from July 22 – both on Bright Star Records and 23rdPrecinct/Notting Hill.
