For those of you who love sports, these next two weeks will be crucial for those of you, for those of you who do not – just wait two weeks for the breathing space. With the FIFA World Cup in its last few weeks and The Wimbledon Tennis Championship beginning its gonna be fun.
FIFA World Cup
Favourite after favourite are leaving the tournement in a weird but yet fantastic world cup. We have seen the likes of Messi and Ronaldo’s teams Argentina and Portugal leaving on the same day, added to that Spain and Germany – this tournement is open to all comers now. Makes me wish I had a bet on the outsider dark horses of Croatia and England.
Croatia just beat Denmark last night in a terrific match and are showing why they should be in consideration – they started the tournament at 28/1 to win it. England themselves have shown a good hand too but decided to fold against Belgium to get the easier side of the draw. England themselves were 16/1 to win it all.
Favourites are between Brazil, France and Beligium – and all are on one side of the draw away from the dark horses England and Croatia. Any team on the Dark horse side of the draw will consider themselves to get a shot to reach the final. But who will win it all?
The tennis begins this morning with the news that the one real British hope in the mens draw is out. Andy Murray is fighting back from injury and has decided that he is not ready. All play to him, he tried to get ready and was not quite there. Looking at both of the draws, its going to be a fun few weeks with some previously seeded players coming back through injury or pregnancy to try their luck again.
Serena Williams is back today and has a ranking of 181 on the WTA, facing world number 105 Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands. If she makes it through the first few rounds, the tough matches will start with women ranked 2,4 and 5 at her side of the draw.
Main good games where there will be plenty of competition from both players will be on the mens side. Karlovic vs Youzhny will likely be a 5 set battle whilst the draw put the two frenchmen together also in Monfils vs Gasquet. Both will be interesting to watch.
What will you be watching today?
