If you didnt see Steam had a festival of the next lot of games coming to PC in the coming months.  From Indie to AAA, there were several gems to find.

We managed to play 20 of them over the week and managed to get a top 5 together.

1 – Lies of P

Game Description – “Lies of P is a thrilling soulslike that takes the story of Pinocchio, turns it on its head, and sets it against the darkly elegant backdrop of the Belle Epoque era.”

Thoughts – The headliner of Steam Next Fest was terrific.  It felt very Elden ring/Dark souls in its combat and had a terrific theme of fairytales to bring you in.  You play as Pinocchio and they have definitely now grown up strong.  Gameplay top notch, theme great – One to Wishlist for sure if you like a Souls like Action Game.

2 – Thronefall

Game Description – “A minimalist game about building and defending your little kingdom.”

Thoughts – A simple twist on a tower defense game with elements of bullet hell.  You are the leader on his horse and you build your base to take on waves of enemies.  We so wish there was more time to develop our base.  Alas the demo was only a taster.

3 – Station to Station

Game Description – “‘Station to Station’ is a minimalist & relaxing game about building railway connections. Grab your conductor’s hat and bring the voxel-art world to life through the magic of trains!”

Thoughts – Vibes of Railway tycoon with a Mission based levels. It felt like we only scratched the surface of it.  Looking at the trailers after placing the demo, the worlds can get very complex and so weirdly beautiful in its voxel styling.

4 – The Invincible

Game Description – “Rethink human’s dominion in The Invincible: a story-driven adventure set in a hard sci-fi world by Stanisław Lem. Discover planet Regis III as scientist Yasna, use atompunk tools looking for a missing crew and face unforeseen threats. Make choices in a philosophical story that’s driven by science.”

Thoughts – Controls were a bit off, it wasn’t as intuitive as we thought it would be.  It’s story looks to be a slow burner, where you unlock things at a slow pace.  Felt a tad walking sim but this is only a small section of the game.  We will be wishlisting this,  but waiting on reviews before buying. It still showed promise and is one to watch out for.

5 –  House Flipper 2

Game Description –  “It’s time to dust off your hammer – House Flipper is back in a brand-new fashion! Buy and renovate run-down houses! Or maybe you want to build new ones? Now you can! Start as a rookie Flipper and make a fortune by helping out the community of the charming town of Pinnacove.”

Thoughts – It surprised us how it draws you in.  Very chill vibes and you take a broken down building and make it into a home.  Design it and do the works how you want.  The demo highlights the basics and we are intrigued.

Honourable Mention – Magnytour

Game Description“Magnytour is a tactical bicycle race boardgame. Take the role of a team manager and guide your team of 3 runners trough a series of grueling races and wind your way through mountains and plains. Play solo or multiplayer online.”

Thoughts – Simple premise and simple design.   It held our attention well. It is very niche but if you love board game with a simple and different premise – Give this a wishlist.  We will be following up when we know more.
