With the on going negative climate, we have decided to add a positive bit to the discussion.  Turning a negative thought into a positive conversation.

Our first conversation for our Doing our Bit series of articles is the negative perception of Mental Health.  Then why you should look towards the work of UK Mental Health Charity Mind.

Mental Health

Mental Health can be a very polarising subject and can be effected by anything and everything. This could be anything from the news from Covid-19, Speaking out movement, BLM movement and then just general life.

We all have to look after our mental health and care for ours and other peoples at the same time. What actions we take or do not take can lead to bad ramifications.  We know from experience, that the signs of mental health can sometimes be unclear and confusing.

This could be anything from anxiety over a situation to a phobia, all can be considered a mental health issue.  Your body if it is scarred you can see the issue, but what if it is in your mind?

“Mind” the UK based charity aims to tackle that issue and help solve and help awareness of mental health.

Mind and its Work

Mind is a UK based Mental health charity, who aims to provide advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

“We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.” – quote from their website.

Local Minds

They have 125 local Mind Charity businesses setup around the England and Wales. Their include a variety of services from supported housing, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending.  This helps at a local level and this information is build within a national entity.

Their Website

They utilise and have developed a vast amount of information on Mental Health. It would be worth for anyone to explore the site (the information and support section) to get a different view on what you think you or a loved one might have.

For example, you have seen the signs of “x” effecting you. It will detail the problem, give you examples of what the symptoms are and give a quote from someone who has it.  Also to conclude their are listed possible reasons to get you thinking.

Always if you believe it to be serious seek professional help, if you are based in the UK Mind would be a good place to start.

Our Thoughts

Our experiences of the past, seeing people break down mentally and trying to help them. Then when we have broken down ourselves, It made us need to start the conversation of mental health today with this short article.

We need to do better. We need to look after each other.

There are lots of examples in the current news cycle where we would just be crumbling and in bits.  We try and keep each other going. If one of our minds are in a negative mindset, we aim to get them out of it. If serious, we do try to take it up a notch and get them the right help.

If you are having mental health problems, anything from just a bad day to something more complex like a eating disorder. If you need help, get it – It will help turn your life more positive for the better.
